PREDAX 2112: pre-shredding for medium-sized operations
A preshredder designed for the realities of medium-sized recyclers
For many years, adding a pre-shredding stage was a solution reserved for large-scale shredding facilities. Equipment size, investment costs and installation requirements prevented many recycling businesses from benefiting from this technology.
With the PREDAX 2112, ZB set out to change that.
The goal was to develop a pre-shredder capable of delivering the advantages of preshredding to medium-sized operations through a compact, mobile solution that could be easily integrated into existing plants.
The machine was specifically engineered to process bulky and challenging scrap, preparing material before it enters the hammermill and ensuring a more consistent and controlled feed.
Challenge: Introducing preshredding without a permanent installation
Many recycling businesses process volumes that do not justify investing in a large stationary preshredding plant, yet still need to improve material preparation before shredding.
For these operations, reducing material size before the hammermill helps stabilise the feed, minimise disruptions caused by bulky or irregular scrap, and improve overall plant performance.
Result: a more stable feed and better material preparation

A new way to integrate preshredding into the recycling process
The PREDAX 2112 was not developed to replace large industrial preshredders. It was designed to meet a different need.
Many recyclers process volumes that do not justify a large stationary installation but still need to improve material preparation, reduce disruptions during shredding and increase overall plant efficiency.
Its mobile design allows a preshredding stage to be added without major modifications to an existing plant. This enables recyclers that previously considered preshredding out of reach to benefit from a more consistent material feed, improved handling of bulky scrap and greater operational stability.
The PREDAX 2112 reflects the philosophy that has guided ZB since the beginning: developing practical solutions that respond to the real needs of recyclers—not the other
way around.
